Upholstery Cleaning in Montague, Bowie, Wichita Falls & North Texas

The first thing we do is find your fabric's cleaning code — W, S, WS, or X. That tells us the right method and approach before we touch the piece. Low-moisture methods for delicate fabrics, pet hair removal available as an add-on, and an honest upfront assessment on stains and odor. Serving North Texas homeowners.

Upholstery cleaning is more variable than carpet because the materials vary so much. A polyester microfiber sectional gets wet extraction. A linen or wool piece gets a low-moisture method to avoid watermarking or shrinkage. The cleaning code tag — usually sewn under a seat cushion — tells us what the manufacturer intends. If there's no tag or the code is unclear, we do a spot test in a hidden area first. Skipping either of those steps is how you damage a piece you can't replace.

What's Included

What Our Upholstery Cleaning Service Covers

1

Fabric code identification before cleaning

W (water-based), S (solvent), WS (either), X (vacuum only). We find the tag first. The code determines the method and chemistry — using the wrong one can watermark, shrink, or shift the dye of natural fiber fabrics.

2

Low-moisture method for delicate fabrics

Cotton, linen, velvet, and some wool fabrics can distort or watermark under heavy wet extraction. We use a low-moisture approach for these — less saturation, shorter dry time, less risk.

3

Available add-on: pet hair removal

Pet hair woven into upholstery fibers needs to come out before cleaning solution goes on — water extraction alone can push it deeper. Available as an add-on; if booked, it's done during prep before the main cleaning step.

The Process

How Upholstery Cleaning Works

Fabric assessment and spot test

We locate the cleaning code, check the fabric for water sensitivity, and do a spot test in a hidden area for any piece with uncertainty. Five minutes here prevents damage you can't undo.

Cleaning

Method depends on the fabric code: wet extraction for W and WS, low-moisture or dry compound for S, grooming only for X.

Dry time

Fabric pieces take 2–6 hours depending on fabric weight and humidity. Low-moisture methods dry faster — sometimes under 2 hours. A fan pointed at the piece shortens it. Don't sit on it until dry.

Why Clean Freak

Why Choose Clean Freak for Upholstery Cleaning?

The cleaning code is the starting point, not an optional step. Apply water to an S-coded fabric and you can cause permanent watermark rings. Use the wrong chemistry on a natural fiber dye and the color can shift. We've seen both on pieces that other services cleaned without checking. Finding the tag and doing a spot test takes five minutes. Ruining something irreplaceable takes no time at all.

Common Questions

Upholstery Cleaning — Questions & Answers

How long does upholstery take to dry?
2–6 hours for fabric pieces under normal conditions. Low-moisture methods for delicate fabrics dry faster, often under 2 hours. Running a fan directly at the piece shortens it. Don't sit on it until fully dry — clothing soil can transfer into damp fabric and undo the cleaning.
Will cleaning fade or shrink my fabric?
Not when the right method is used for the fabric type. Fading happens when the wrong cleaner is applied to certain natural fiber dyes. Shrinkage happens when natural fiber upholstery gets saturated. Pre-testing tells us what to expect before we commit to the full piece. If a test shows color migration, we'll stop and discuss before cleaning the whole item.
My sofa has a 'dry clean only' tag — can it still be cleaned?
Yes — that tag corresponds to the S fabric code, which means solvent-based or dry compound cleaning, not no cleaning at all. We handle S-coded upholstery regularly. What we won't do is apply water to a water-sensitive fabric and risk permanent watermarking.
Can you remove pet odor, or just pet hair?
Both, though they're handled separately. Pet hair removal is available as an add-on — if booked, it happens during prep before cleaning solution goes on. Odor from dander and accidents is addressed during cleaning. For severe contamination that's soaked deep into the cushion fill, cleaning alone may not be enough — replacement is sometimes the only way to fully eliminate it. We'll give you an honest read on severity before we start.
